Healthy Living in a Toxic Culture

January 30th and 31st, 2018

Healthy Living in a Toxic Culture, a two-day workshop series for junior and senior high students, turned out to be a tremendous success.  Even two weeks after the workshops, students are still requesting time with us and choosing to share with us, their personal and painful stories of how their lives have been impacted by our overly sexualized culture and the shame-based beliefs that they have quietly carried as a result.  Never before spoken stories of grief, loss, abandonment, self-harm, abuse, and even suicidal thoughts have all emerged.  Knowing that these young people have been given permission and space to speak their once silent thoughts in a safe, judgment free community has further fueled our desire to expand this workshop opportunity to include students from all across Alaska.    We are now aiming to connect with both public and private schools, church youth groups, and community agencies that provide support services to junior and senior high youth.  Please contact us for more information and to discuss how we can bring this workshop to the young people in your community.
